The Social Commerce Handbook: 20 Secrets For Turning Social Media Into Social Sales

The Social Commerce HandbookIn a previous post, I wrote about an ebook that Dr. Paul Marsden, Editor of Social Commerce Today, and I had written entitled The F-Commerce Handbook: 10 Secrets For Unlocking the Sales Potential Of Facebook. (It’s also now available in paperback.) That book was the precursor to a new book that will be available in October entitled The Social Commerce Handbook: 20 Secrets For Turning Social Media Into Social Sales. (Both are published by McGraw-Hill.)

While the former was largely the result of Paul Marsden’s efforts, this new book is more collaborative; Paul wrote the introduction and the first 10 chapters, while I penned the final ten plus the epilogue.

Not only will this be the first major title that specifically addresses the topic of social commerce in-depth, in my estimation it’s pretty darned good. Why? Because it is a hands-on guide to successful selling using social media. Here’s the publisher’s pitch:

The Social Commerce Handbook presents the next big phase in social media marketing: selling directly through social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and more. Coauthored by two of today’s leading authorities on this hot new field, the book teaches techniques and best practices brands like Etsy, Zappos, Groupon, and Apple, have used to build profitable strategies for turning interaction into transactions.

Of course, the proof is in the pudding, but both Paul and I put a lot of toil into this volume including countless interviews with some major players in the social commerce industry in order to glean actionable examples for how to use social commerce in practical, real-world ways.

While I’ve always said that this was Paul Marsden’s book to write – and his is without a doubt one of the smartest minds on the planet when it comes to both f-commerce and social commerce – I’m privileged to have a hand in its development as well. So, you’ll forgive me for my obvious sense of pride (and puffery) when I suggest that it’s well worth reading.

Though the book is not yet available, you can pre-order it from Amazon in either paperback or Kindle editions, and from Barnes & NobleBooks-a-Million and 800CEORead in paperback. (I’m certain B&N will offer a Nook edition, as well.) If you choose to wait until it actually hits the shelves, you will find it at B&N and Books-a-Million, plus independent bookstores.

(Told you I was proud of this volume!)

The F-Commerce HandbookBTW, The F-Commerce Handbook is also available from each of those vendors.
